Claire Fleming joined the New York University Staff in November of 1991 as the Director of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program. Among her responsibilities was to develop and implement polices and procedures for operationalizing a employee assistance program in a university setting. Mrs. Fleming began her EAP career in 1978, when she joined the staff of Long Island Jewish Medics Center as their EAP Coordinator and provided EAP services for 6,000 hospital employees over 9 years In 1983, Mrs. Fleming developed a private clinical practice with treatment specialization in: Borderline Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorder and Chemical Dependency; and for the last five years, Mrs. Fleming has offered a specialty group for recovery of chemically dependent women Mrs. Fleming received her Masters Degree in Social Work and her Post-Master's Certificate in clinical Social Work from Adelphi University. She holds certifications as a Certified employee Assistance Professional, Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor, Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work and is a Substance Abuse Professional. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers; and for the last four years was the conference planner for the New York City Chapter of the NASW annual Addiction Institute (formerly known as the Alcoholism Institute), which is held at Fordham University. As conference planner, Mrs. Fleming's responsibility was to develop the conference curriculum, provide the keynote speaker and workshop presenters, oversee and operationalize the entire Addiction conference for some 800 Social Workers. Mrs. Fleming is a member of the National NASW, The Employee Assistance Professional Organization, and in 1990 was elected Chapter President of the New York Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professional Association. |
